Chariots of Fire

Oil on Canvas 12 x 16 x 3/4 Private Collection

Teamwork is critical to pack burro racing. These racers and their burro, Jake, Tin Cup, and Louie, jockey for position during a training run on the prairie near the foot of Pikes Peak, the site of the Colorado gold rush of 1859. The prospectors, known as the “Fifty-Niners,” adopted the well-known motto, “Pike's Peak or Bust!”
